Police hunt for vicious pit bull in Oakland Gardens

By Rich Bockmann

The police were looking for a dog Thursday that viciously attacked a man in Oakland Gardens two days earlier. Just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a neighborhood man was walking by a house at 69-10 225th St. when he was attacked by a pit bull, the police said.

According to Officer Gary Poggiali of the 111th Precinct, a young woman supposedly had the dog on a retractable leash when the animal got away from her and attacked the victim, causing injuries that required 300 stitches. Poggiali said sources at the scene described bites so deep they exposed the victim’s bone.

The police arrested a 62-year-old woman named Iamve Tetruashvili of 690 Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn on one count of tampering with evidence and one count of obstructing a police officer’s investigation by allegedly hiding the animal, which has not been found.
