A former special education teacher lost more than her future as an educator last week after she admitted to creating sex tapes with a teen, the Queens district attorney’s office said.
Christine Williams was sentenced to 90 days in prison July 12 for rape, criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child charges by a Queens Supreme Court judge, a spokeswoman for the Queens DA’s office said.
Williams, 42, who taught at PS 80 in Jamaica, pleaded guilty to the criminal counts May 24 and as a result must not only register with the sex offender list but also forfeit her state teaching license, according to the spokeswoman.
Between Jan. 29, 2010, and Feb. 5 of last year, Williams had sexual relations with a 16-year-old boy at her apartment in Rochdale Village, the criminal complaint said. The teen was reportedly a family friend and the two had known each other since January 2008, according to the complaint.
Their encounters were recorded on video tape and the victim has possession of them, the complaint said. He went to the police with the three tapes that had footage of Williams having sex with the victim.
The teacher was promptly arrested and charged by prosecutors.
This is not the only sex case to come out of the southeast Queens housing complex.
David C. Hartshorn, who used to coach Rochdale’s Little League team, is awaiting trial on several sex crime charges after investigators said he took advantage of several of his young players in his home. Hartshorn allegedly videotaped his sexual encounters with the boys, which investigators said included a poker game where the loser performed sex acts on the other boys, without the victims’ knowledge.
His arrest forced Rochdale to cancel its Little League games this season.
