Avella cares about constituents

As a College Point homeowner, I had written to state Sen. Tony Avella (D-Bayside) in the hope that he would help with getting the trees on my block pruned, due to the fact that they are so overgrown that you have to crouch down when walking along the street or you will get poked in the eye.

After receiving my letter, Avella wrote to the city Parks Department with a request indicating the urgency of the need for pruning and trimming our trees.

Much to my dismay, I received a copy of the rhetorical answer which the Parks Department sent in response to Avella’s letter, and Avella also stressed how he was not going to let this go by unattended, hence his note to Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Fast forward to our illustrious mayor, who is nothing more than a useless figurehead who is excellent at spewing excuses for his basic inability to run our city. He is so useless I doubt seriously if he can negotiate buying a lottery ticket, no less deal with the complexities of our vast and necessary issues which must be met with on a daily basis. The mayor’s insolence, aggressiveness and arrogance are not helping our city prosper and grow. It is bad enough he forced his way into a third term as mayor by changing rules to suit his own selfish needs — but now he is sitting there, doing nothing useful, and he should be removed from office immediately.

In counterpoint, I appreciate the efforts of Avella in his attempt to put a remedy to a need which is quite evident.

It is a shame we do not have more politicians like Avella, who seem to be interested in the needs of their constituents and who always try to act on the best interests of taxpayers who ask him to address issues which may need to be dealt with swiftly.

I send out my thanks to Avella for always trying his best to help out the taxpayers. I send my regrets to Bloomberg for always being there to do nothing useful and for only looking like the fool each time he is asked a pertinent question about a city issue which needs attention.
