MTA to shut down Saturday

The MTA will shut down system-wide on Saturday. Service will cease on trains and buses after they make their final runs at approximately noon. The shutdown includes subways, buses, Long Island Railroad, Metro-North and Access-A-Ride. Service may not be restored in time for Monday rush hour the mayor announced.
Ninety one emergency centers will be open at 4 p.m. on Friday.
The George Washington Bridge, Tappan Zee Bridge, all bridges of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority and the New York State Thruway may be shut down if sustained wind speeds exceed 60 mph. Additional major highways may close also.
Hospitals, nursing home and senior homes have already been evacuated in the low-lying areas of the city.
