Students, Faculty & Parents Open the Doors to Catholic Schools Week

Schools in Ridgewood, Glendale and Middle Village joined others across the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens to kick off “Catholic Schools Week” with open houses and other events on Sunday, Jan. 29. As noted, the annual campaign includes a variety of public events aimed at promoting the activities of local parochial schools. Parents and students of each school took part in the open houses and led visitors on tours of the building and various exhibits. Among the participating schools holding open houses on Sunday were Our Lady of Hope in Middle Village, led by Rev. Michael Carrano, pastor, and Michelle Krebs, principal (picture 1); Notre Dame Catholic Academy of Ridgewood, with principal Raffaele Corso (picture 2); St. Margaret School in Middle Village, with Msgr. Steven Aguggia, pastor, and Dr. Philip Franco, principal (picture 3); St. Pancras School with Msgr. Gregory Wielunski, pastor, and Philip Ciani, principal (picture 4); St. Matthias School in Ridgewood, with students and faculty shown receiving donations for its Spanish and computer programs (picture 5) and Sacred Heart School in Glendale with principal Joanne Gangi (picture 6).
