Teenager stole coat and iPhone in Flushing: Police

FLUSHING — A 16-year-old stole the coat off another man’s back last month during a series of knifepoint robberies, police said.

Tyrell Grant, 16, was with another man Feb. 22 at about 12:50 p.m. when he approached a 15-year-old boy near 56th Road and 150th Street.

Grant displayed a knife and threw the teen to the ground before taking his Moncler jacket, valued at $300, police said.

About 20 minutes later on Main Street, Grant brandished his knife at a 15-year-old girl and threatened to shoot her unless she surrendered her iPhone, police said.

Grant took the iPhone, but officers caught up and slapped him in cuffs.

He was charged with several counts of criminal possession of a weapon, robbery and resisting arrest, police said.
