New Ridgewood School at Cb 5 Hearing Apr. 10

Board’s Regular Meeting On Apr. 11

Community Board 5 will hold a public hearing on the proposed construction of a new primary school in Ridgewood this Tuesday night, Apr. 10, the day before their regularly scheduled board meeting in Middle Village, it was announced.

According to District Manager Gary Giordano, the board will conduct its public hearing on the school project at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night in the cafeteria of P.S. 305, located at 378 Seneca Ave. in Ridgewood.

Representatives from the city’s School Construction Authority and Department of Education will be on hand to outline plans for the development of a new primary school on the site of the former St. Aloysius School located at 360 Seneca Ave.

If constructed, the new school would have seats for 444 students.

The following day, Wednesday, Apr. 11, Board 5 will hold its regular meeting in the cafeteria of Christ the King Regional High School, located at 68-02 Metropolitan Ave. in Middle Village, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The agenda includes a public hearing regarding the renewal of an enclosed sidewalk café license for Phillies Pizzeria, located at 74-02 Eliot Ave. in Middle Village. The proposed sidewalk café is for 16 tables and 33 seats.

Following the hearing, the board will hold its regular meeting, which includes the public forum, a review of liquor license and demolition applications and committee reports.
