The Queens College baseball team dropped a pair of East Coast Conference games Sunday afternoon at West Haven High School to host University of Bridgeport 12-2 and 2-0.
Game 1: Bridgeport 12, Queens 2
QC got all its scoring in the top of the fourth inning, courtesy of a two-run single to center field by junior Anthony Mazzella. Sophomore Joe Salanitri led off the inning with a walk and moved up 90 feet on a single to left by freshman Nick LoBello (2-for-3). Both runners advanced on a subsequent wild pitch, setting the stage for Mazzella’s base-knock.
Junior Danny Muller rapped a double in the contest for the Knights.
Game 2: Bridgeport 2, Queens 0
Salanitri, LoBello and junior Warren Kelly each had one hit for Queens in the nightcap. Junior Jared Mancini scattered eight hits, two runs (one earned) and three walks while striking out five on the mound for the Knights.
Head Coach Tom Sowinski’s QC squad was scheduled back in ECC action at Ray Metski Field in Flushing Wednesday afternoon, when Dowling College visits for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
