Remembering Veterans In Maspeth

Local war veterans and Girl Scouts held a candlelight vigil for Memorial Day on Monday, May 21, sponsored by the United Veterans and Fraternal Organizations of Maspeth. Due to inclement weather, the vigil was moved from Maspeth Memorial Park to nearby American Legion Post 783. Here, veteran Bruce Singer, Girl Scout Mary Singer and her fellow members of Troop 4311 (thIrd to seventh from left) hold candles representing all POWs and MIAs, veterans from Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, victims of terrorist acts, the Vietnam War, the Korean War and World Wars I and II.
