FAR ROCKAWAY — A former Far Rockaway man was convicted of attempted murder and other charges for the shooting and robbery of another man in July 2007, the district attorney said.
According to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, 39-year-old Robert Ellis, formerly of Far Rockaway, shot Carl Field, 20, in the leg and had an accomplice steal money and other items from him.
The accomplice, Dexter Bostic, is awaiting trial, Brown said.
Brown said Field allegedly handed more than $1,800 in cash, a chain and the keys to his vehicle in the attack.
Ellis was convicted of one count of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, Brown said. He faces sentencing July 18, at which time he faces up to 25 years in prison.
