Flames ripped through a two-story Ridgewood home and spread to the sides of two adjacent structures during a one-alarm fire last Saturday afternoon, July 7, that left two firefighters injured, FDNY sources said. Reportedly, the inferno ignited at around 4:30 p.m. in the vicinity of 67th and Forest avenues. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 291, 277, 271, 218 and 233; Ladder companies 140, 112, 124, 135 and 176; Squad Co. 288; Rescue 4 and Battalions 28 and 37-under the direction of Division 14-along with the 104th Precinct and EMS units. The injured firefighters were removed to Elmhurst Hospital Center for treatment of minor ailments. Three hose lines were used to extinguish the blaze, Fire Department sources said.
