Glendale Fire Hits the Top Floor

Flames ripped through the top floor of a Glendale building during a one-alarm fire last Saturday, Sept. 22, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the blaze broke out at around 12:34 p.m. in the rear of a third-floor apartment above a storefront on Myrtle Avenue between 80th and 81st streets. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 319, 294, 293 and 236; Ladder companies 143, 151 and 142; Squad Co. 288; Rescue 4 and Battalions 39 and 46-under the direction of Division 13-along with the 104th Precinct and EMS units. There were no injuries reported. Two hose lines were used by firefighters to bring the blaze under control, an FDNY source said.
