New Qca Grants for Artists Are Available

Workshops In Forest Hills, L.I.C.

The Queens Council on The Arts (QCA) will be holding several workshops throughout the borough this fall to guide artists through the process of applying for funding grants.

In 2012, QCA awarded $222,597 to 21 artists and 50 organizations for various art projects and programs in Queens through its grant program, the Queens Arts Fund.

The workshops will take place at the following dates and locations:

– on Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Forest Hills Library, located at 108-19 71st Ave. in Forest Hills;

– on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Flushing Library’s third floor conference room at 41-17 Main St. in Flushing;

– on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at JCAL, located at 161-04 Jamaica Ave. in Jamaica, and

– on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at The Entrepreneur’s Incubator Space, located at 36-46 37th St. in Long Island City.

All workshops start at 6 p.m.

First-time applicants can also view a video tutorial online at the QCA ‘s website (www.queenscouncilarts.org) or by attending a one-onone session with a QCA staffer on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Entrepreneur’s Incubator Space, or on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, located at 161-04 Jamaica Ave. in Jamaica. Artists can sign up online for a 20- minute conversation with a QCA worker.

The grant application must be submitted using QCA’s online application which is available at the QCA’s website.
