Fake Redhead Takes Money In M.V.

Disguising himself in a red wig and a New York Yankees baseball cap, a man allegedly made off with thousands of dollars in cash from a Middle Village bank during a heist last Friday afternoon, Sept. 28, police reported.

The suspect behind the robbery- described by law enforcement sources as a caucasian male believed to be 45 years of age-remains at large as of press time.

According to authorities, the heist occurred at around 3:30 p.m. last Friday at the Cross County Savings Bank located at 80-10 Eliot Ave.

Police said the perpetrator walked into the branch, approached a teller and passed a note demanding money. After reportedly receiving over $5,000 from the employee, the bandit fled from the scene on foot; he was last observed walking eastbound on Eliot Avenue.

Members of the 104th Precinct responded to the scene. It was determined that no weapons were displayed, and there were no injuries.

Various police units canvassed the surrounding area for the suspect, but despite their efforts, no immediate arrests were made, law enforcement sources noted.

The case was presented to the 104th Precinct Detective Squad and the NYPD Major Crimes Squad for further investigation, police said.
