The majority of schools across Queens opened their doors Monday after a full week of being closed following Superstorm Sandy, though a number of schools in the borough remain closed until further notice or are being relocated.
The city Department of Education announced 17 Queens schools would be closed Monday to students. The schools are:

P.S. 098 The Douglaston School
Village Academy
M.S. 053 Brian Piccolo
P.S. 253
P.S. 232 Lindenwood
P.S. 104 The Bays Water
Wave Preparatory Elementary School
P.S. 215 Lucretia Mott
Academy of Medical Technology: A College Board School
Queens High School for Information, Research, and Technology
Knowledge and Power Preparatory Academy VI
Frederick Douglass Academy VI High School
P.S. 197 The Ocean School
P.S. 146 Howard Beach
P.S. 181 Brookfield
Cynthia Jenkins School
Hillcrest High School’s opening has been delayed until Wednesday. The department also announced that 17 schools would be temporarily relocated. Students at these schools are to report to the relocation school on Wednesday. The schools are:
