FLUSHING — A 57-year-old mother of two was struck by a van and killed last Thursday evening in Flushing, police and the victim’s family said.

Shu Chen had been walking at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Main Street at about 5:30 p.m. when she was hit, according to the NYPD. Her family said she had gone to Flushing to buy something for the new home she had bought in Whitestone with her husband and son a month prior.

Chen was transported to New York Hospital Queens, where she was pronounced dead. Police said no criminality was suspected in the crash.

A native of Fuzhong, China, Chen had come to the United States about six years ago and reunited with her husband Bao Shu Li, who had been working in the country for more than 10 years, awaiting her arrival, her son 30-year-old Jia Dong Li said.

Chen worked as a home health attendant in the Bronx and has another child, a daughter, who lives in China.

“She liked cooking and watching TV,” Jia Dong Li said.

Relatives expected to hold a Buddhist ceremony in memory of Chen after her body was released to them from the medical examiner’s office.
