Drunk driver kills 76-year-old pedestrian in Woodhaven

A Queens man is dead after a drunk driver struck him on Jamaica Avenue Wednesday afternoon, said police.

Around 4:30 p.m. John Eberling, 76, was crossing at the corner of 80th Street and Jamaica Ave when 47-year-old Viveshdyal Thakoordyal, of Queens,
hit Eberling with his car.

Thakoordyal was arrested at the scene of the accident and charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter.
