Whatever your mode of mass transit, bridge or tunnel, you will pay more in several steps starting Friday.
The increased fares on the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North take effect Friday for monthly, one-way round trip and 10-trip ticket holders. For commuters using weekly tickets, which are always valid from Saturday through the following Friday, higher fares will be effective Saturday,
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board approved an increase in fares Dec. 19 to shore up the agency’s precarious finances, and it started by increasing the basic fare from $2.25 to $2.50.
Higher fares for subways, buses, the Staten Island Railway and Access-a-Ride will take effect at 12:01 a.m, Sunday.
The 30-day unlimited MetroCard will cost $112, up from $104. The seven-day unlimited MetroCard will cost $30, up from $29, and seven-day Express Bus Plus MetroCards will cost $55, up from $50.
The City Ticket for one-way weekend travel within New York City rises to $4 from $3.75 Saturday.
Most commuter rail fares will rise from 8.2 percent and 9.3 percent, depending on the ticket and the distance.
Higher tolls on the seven bridges and tunnels operated by the MTA take effect at 2 a.m Sunday. Tolls on most bridges and tunnels will increase to $5.33 from $4.80 for E-ZPass holders and to $7.50 from $6.50 for cash motorists.
