Man Stabbed During Ridgewood Street Beef

What started as an apparent dispute between two men at a Ridgewood intersection last Thursday night, May 23, came to a bloody end when one man stabbed the other in the neck with an unidentified object, police reported.

Law enforcement sources said Guillermo Flores, 18, of Woodward Avenue was collared by 104th Precinct officers shortly after assaulting the 22-year-old victim, who was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

According to information provided by the Queens District Attorney’s office, the trouble began at around 10 p.m. last thursday at the corner of Cornelia Street and Woodward Avenue.

Reportedly, Flores approached the victim and engaged him in a verbal argument. Seconds later, authorities said, the dispute turned violent when Flores allegedly struck the man in the face and neck.

Law enforcement sources said the victim began bleeding profusely and noticed that Flores was holding an unidentified “shiny object” in his hand.

Officers from the 104th Precinct responded to the scene moments after the assault. The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he received a number of stitches to close a deep cut on his neck.

Following an investigation, police said, Flores was tracked down and arrested by P.O. Sean McCarren of the 104th Precinct just before 11 p.m. Thursday. The suspect was charged with two counts of first-degree assault.

According to court records, Flores was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court last Friday, May 24, before Judge Duane Hart, who ordered him held on $2,500 bail. He is scheduled to return to court on June 12.
