Now that a judge has ruled that stop-and-frisk needs to be amended, what will be next?
There have been an unusual number of non-white people who have been stopped by the police. According to the statistics compiled, 89 percent of those people were innocent of any type of criminal wrongdoing. Many people have had their constitutional rights violated because of stop-and-frisk.
Yet the public must be protected against crime, so what other alternative does law enforcement have? There has to be a solution to this issue so everyone — the public and the police — are treated fairly.
People should not have their civil rights violated just because of their race or ethnicity.
