Community Board 11 unanimously voted at its November meeting to allow a car dealership from Douglaston to expand its showroom.
Architect Gerald Caliendo made his pitch to the board Monday for an expansion of East Hills Chevrolet, which included the enlarging of its showroom as well as the adding of a parking deck behind the building, at 240-02 Northern Blvd.
The dealership currently has enough room for two cars, Caliendo said, with the proposed expansion enabling the business to double its capacity to four cars. An additional parking area behind the building would also alleviate street parking near the dealership, he said.
CB 11’s Zoning Committee said in a report the building did not have a history of complaints and therefore members were in favor of the proposed variance.
