LORRAINE G. HOECHNER of
Lewes, Del., formerly of Glendale
and Brevard, N.C., died on Tuesday,
December 31, 2013, at Harbor
Healthcare, Lewes, Del. at the age of
87. She was born February 16, 1926
in Queens and was the daughter of
the late George and Wilhelmina.
Hoechner started her career as a
teacher’s aid in New York City
schools for several years before
transferring to her longtime career as
a civil servant with the New York
City Department of Human
Resources. Upon her retirement in
1988, Hoechner and her husband
relocated to the mountains of North
Carolina, where they enjoyed their
pet dogs and relaxation until 2007,
when they would settle in Lewes,
Del..
Hoechner was a parishioner of
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Brevard, N.C., and St. Jude The
Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes,
Del.
In addition to her parents,
Hoechner was preceded in death by
her loving and devoted husband of 67
years, Joseph C. Hoechner; her sister,
Ruth Hoechner; and her only
grandson, Christopher Hoechner.
She is survived by her two sons:
Joseph G. Hoechner and his wife
Cheryl of Lewes, Del., and John W.
Hoechner and his wife Helen of
Omaha, Neb.; and her two
granddaughters, Danielle and Kayla.
Services held on Friday, January
3, at Parsell Funeral Homes &
Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel,
16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, Del.

Georgetown, DE 19947.

Glendale died on Friday, December
27, 2013, at the age of 90. She was
the wife of the late Raymond A.
Herbst, loving mother of Eileen
Rosenblatt, Loretta Watz and Susan
Hoell, mother-in-law of George
Becker, Andrew Watz, William Hoell
and Leonard Rosenblatt, cherished
grandmother of Jennifer, Cathleen,
Jessica and Kevin and greatgrandmother of Erin and John. A
Mass of Christian Burial was offered
at St. Pancras Church, Glendale,
followed by interment at Pinelawn
Memorial Park, Farmingdale, L.I.,
under the direction of George Werst
Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave.,
Glendale.

BRUCE BACHMANN of Glendale
died on Friday, December 27, 2013,
at the age of 75. He was the beloved
husband of Dolores Bachmann,
devoted father of Sue Ann Venturino,
Keith Bachmann and Theresa
“Tracy” Curiel and dear brother of
Barry and Bradley Bachmann. He is
also survived by three grandchildren.
A private cremation was held at Fresh
Pond Crematory, Middle Village,
under the direction of George Werst
Funeral Home, 71-41 Cooper Ave.,
Glendale.

WILLIAM MCGUIRE of Corona died on Friday, January 3, at the age of 88.
A native of New York, he was the husband of the late Geraldine Tighe and
devoted father of Theresa Belmonte. Prayers were offered at George Werst

Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, L.I.

MARGARET A. STRUNCIUS of Ridgewood died on Saturday, January 4,
at the age of 96. A native of New York, she was the wife of the late Rudolph
O. Struncius, devoted grandmother of Cara Alderman, Tammy Larkin, Cindy
Struncius, Brad Struncius, Brian Zekoll, Daniel Zekoll, Robert Wright, Susan
Wright, Robin Wright and Scott Wright and dear brother of Rose Gregory.
She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 13 great-greatgrandchildren. Services were offered at George Werst Funeral Home, 71-41
Cooper Ave., Glendale, followed by interment at Long Island National
Cemetery, Farmingdale, L.I.

JOSEPH WILLIAM BIALOWAS died on Wednesday, January 1, at the age
of 63. He was the beloved son of Margareta Bialowas, loving brother of John
Bialowas and Marylou Pace, brother-in-law of Maryann and Frank and
cherished uncle of Ginger, Rachel and Jeffrey. Services were offered on
Saturday, January 4, at Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth,
followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village.

LAZAR MATEI of Ridgewood died on Saturday, January 4, at the age of 90.
A native of Ritisevo, Yugoslavia, he was the husband of the late Kornelija and
devoted father of Vasile Matej. Services were offered at Morton Funeral
Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood, by Rev. Viorel
Dimitrescu, followed by interment at Linden Hill Cemetery, Ridgewood.

EDWARD G. ANDERSON JR. of Middle Village died on Thursday,
December 26, 2013, at the age of 79. He was a native of Brooklyn and a U.S.
Marine Corps veteran. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Matthias
Church, Ridgewood, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery,
Calverton, L.I., under the direction of Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood
Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood.

KATERINA PETROVICI of Middle Village died on Sunday, January 5, at
the age of 87. A native of Bobda, Romania, she was the wife of the late George
and devoted mother of Jon Petrovici and Della Kracun. She is also survived
by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services were offered at
Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood,
by Rev. Dimitri Musta, followed by interment at St. John Cemetery,
Middle Village.
