The NYPD has released a surveillance image of a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman in Astoria Sunday, police said.
The 22-year old woman was walking on 30th Avenue at 3:25 a.m. when the suspect allegedly approached her from behind and knocked her to the ground, according to cops. The suspect allegedly attempted to rape the woman, but she fought with her assailant, who then ran away, the NYPD said.
The victim had cuts and scratches on her legs and buttocks but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
Authorities described the suspect as a 5-foot-7 Hispanic man with dark hair in his 30s weighing about 145 pounds.
The surveillance image depicts the suspect wearing a distinctive jacket with bright color on the shoulders and sleeves and a darker color from the chest down.
