Two people died in a Far Rockaway blaze Sunday afternoon after firefighters had a difficult time reaching the victims due to cluttered conditions in the house, the FDNY said.
The flames broke out at about 1 p.m. on the first floor of the two-story home at 22-60 Cornaga Ave., authorities said. The fire was under control by 2:50 p.m.
According to an FDNY spokesman, firefighters were delayed in their search of the home because of debris they encountered.
In addition to the two deaths, seven firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital.
The identities of the deceased have not been released. The cause is under investigation.
