Knife-wielding man tried to sexually assault woman in Woodhaven: cops

Police are searching for a suspect who tried to sexually assault a woman at knifepoint in Woodhaven earlier this week.

According to authorities, at about 4:55 a.m. on Jan. 10, the 18-year-old female victim was walking home near 88th Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard when the suspect started following her. At the corner of 92nd Street and 89th Avenue, police noted, the suspect grabbed the victim’s arm, pulled out a knife and started threatening her while making sexual demands.

The victim refused to comply or move, and the suspect fled south on 92nd Street.

Officers from the 102nd Precinct reported to the scene; the victim was unharmed.

The suspect is described as a black male about 20 to 30 years old, standing 5 foot 6 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. He was seen wearing a dark-colored ski jacket, baseball hat, boots and light-colored gloves.

No arrests have been made yet and the investigation is ongoing.
