1. Take a swim!

The best way to beat the heat in the “World’s Borough” is to head for Astoria Park Pool, located at 19th Street and 23rd Drive, in Astoria. Astoria Park Pool is an Olympic-sized pool and is the largest public pool in NYC at 330 feet in length. It also features a diving pool as well. The best part is it’s free! Check out our guide to the best pools in Queens as well.

2. Visit Long Island City waterfront

Great way to stay cool in Queens this summer is to visit the Long Island City waterfront where there are many water-related activities, as well as non-nautical adventures to be had. Have some fun at Hunter’s Point South Park, go fishing along the piers, picnic underneath the famous Pepsi-Cola sign, or take a stroll on the sand at the LIC beach by Hunter’s Point South Park.

3. Eat tons of ice cream at Lemon Ice King in Corona
