A 23-year-old woman lost her life early on Sunday morning when the sedan she was riding in collided with a car at a South Ozone Park intersection, according to police.
The incident occurred at 4:23 a.m. on Sept. 11 at the corner of 120th Street and Linden Boulevard.
According to authorities, Desray Leroy, 23, of 108th Street in Richmond Hill was one of six passengers riding in a 2004 Audi A6 operated by a 25-year-old male that was traveling northbound on 120th Street.
As the sedan approached the intersection, police said, it collided with a 1993 Honda Civic operated by Ray Mouton, 53, of Parsons Boulevard in Jamaica and traveling westbound on Linden Boulevard. The force of the impact caused the Audi to overturn.
Officers from the 106th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Leroy, who suffered head trauma, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital and was listed in critical condition. Three male passengers, ages 20, 22 and 23, were removed to NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens hospital and listed in stable condition; a 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old female were also rushed to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.
Paramedics brought Mouton to Jamaica Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Following an investigation, she was found not to have a valid driver’s license and was subsequently charged with aggravated unlicensed operator.
Mouton was arraigned in Queens Criminal Court later on Sunday and released without bail; she is due back in court on Oct. 20, according to court records.
