A 46-year-old man was struck and killed in Corona late Friday night, according to the NYPD. Police from the 110th Precinct, responding to a 911 call, discovered the man lying in the intersection of 104th Street and 41st Avenue unconscious and unresponsive with severe head and body trauma.

The man was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was later pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad revealed that a dark colored SUV made a lefthand turn from southbound 104th Street to eastbound 41st Avenue when he struck the pedestrian and drove off.

The identification of the victim is pending proper family notification. The NYPD placed an electronic billboard at the scene asking anyone with information to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
