The NYPD was looking for a man who allegedly stole a cell phone and wallet from a sleeping passenger inside a northbound F train in Elmhurst. The 41-year-old victim awoke around 4:30 a.m. April 23 and discovered the wallet, which contained several credit and debit cards, had been taken, police said.

The suspect was caught on surveillance footage trying to use one of the debit cards to buy items at Pronto Lottery, a shop located at 40-07 74th St., at 5:20 a.m. The suspect’s purchase with the debit card was unsuccessful, according to the NYPD.

The video shows the suspect wearing a dark colored hooded jacket, black pants and red sneakers. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
