A Jamaica man has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to promoting a sexual performance by a child.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Brennan Chan, 36, of Jamaica pleaded, guilty before Supreme Court Justice Richard Buchter on June 12 to the charge.

The charge also brings Chan 10 years of probation and requires him to register as a sex offender.

Brown said that on July 4, 2014, a special agent from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations made use of a law enforcement tool to investigate individuals in the New York City area sharing images and videos of child sex abuse. The special agent downloaded an address being used by Chan. The file showed a girl about 11 years old removing her clothes, exposing her genitalia and performing sex acts with an adult male.

Brown said the defendant shared over 800 pictures and videos online of underage children depicted in a sexual manner and various sexual acts.

“There was a time when vile and disturbing videos were mostly exchanged in a dimly lit back alley, but turning on a computer and accessing the Internet is all one needs for a peep show into the perverted,” Brown said.
