Queens Library offers free specialized high school information session in Cambria Heights
By Naeisha Rose

Queens Library at Cambria Heights won’t be offering turkey this holiday weekend, but it will be offering a food for thought for students who are interested in attending specialized high schools, according to the library.

The Nov. 24 event, which will be hosted at 218-13 Linden Blvd., is free for everyone, but the library prefers if prospective attendees RSVP at (212) 637-8080 or shsat@schools.nyc.gov for the information session.

A representative from the city’s Department of Education will be there for parents and students from grades four through eight to provide information regarding elite high schools such as Bronx High School of Science, The Brooklyn Latin School, Brooklyn Technical High School for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering at the City College of New York, High School of American Studies at Lehman College, Staten Island Technical High School, Stuyvesant High School and Queens High School for the Sciences at York College.

Queens High School for the Sciences at York College — located at 94-50 159th St. in Jamaica — is the lone elite school in the borough.

Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, an elite performing arts school, will be up for discussion as well, according to the library.

The information session is on a first-come, first-served basis.
