Sunnyside residents are coming together this evening, Dec. 17, to support their neighbors impacted by last week’s fire that destroyed six businesses and left dozens without work around the holiday season.

The Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District will host a fundraising event tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. The fundraiser will be held at Sunnyside Community Services which is located at 43-31 39th St. According to Sunnyside Shines, both Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer and Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan will attend the event.

Tickets to the fundraiser are $20 and attendees will be able to enjoy food, drinks and live entertainment. The fundraising event will also feature a charitable holiday pop-up market with items from local artisans. During the event, there will also be an assistance fair for affected employees.

The fundraiser is a family-friendly event and children are welcome to attend. Alcoholic beverages will be available for adult patrons to purchase.

Sunnyside Shines encourages those who are unable to make tonight’s fundraiser to donate via a GoFundMe campaign. The campaign, the Sunnyside Relief Fund, has already raised $66,554.
