Flushing Financial Corporation, the parent company of Flushing Bank, opened a new location at 85-15 Queens Blvd. in Elmhurst, which is now open for full service.

John R. Buran, President and CEO of Flushing Bank, said that the new Elmhurst location will expand its presence in Queens and deepen relationships with local residents and businesses.

“As a community bank, we believe it is important to give back and demonstrate our commitment by sponsoring cultural and local organizations through financial and volunteer support,” Buran said. “We look forward to building upon this commitment to serve the individuals, families and businesses of Elmhurst and the surrounding communities.”

Ahead of the opening, Flushing Bank partnered with NYC Kids RISE to invest in scholarship accounts for kindergarteners from a nearby school, 139 P.S. 110Q.

“I am blown away by flushing bank and the clear commitment to community, you can feel it, you can see it, and it is so exciting to be a part of this new branch opening,” said Debra-Ellen Glickstein, the founding executive director of NYC Kids RISE’s Save for College program.

City Council Francisco Moya also joined the grand opening, applauding Flushing Bank’s commitment to the community through the Save for College program.

“This is really going to change the lives of so many, in particular, immigrant families throughout the borough of Queens and throughout the city who don’t understand the financial literacy component of what they need to be doing now to save for the future,” Moya said. “I thank Flushing Bank for their generous donation to the students of P.S. 110 through the Save for College Program and to the Neighborhood Housing Services of Queens as we celebrate the bank’s new Elmhurst branch.”
