Episcopal Health Services’ new CEO initiates series of meet-and-greets to engage with team members across facilities

In an effort to strengthen connections and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission, the new CEO of Episcopal Health Services (EHS), Dr. Donald T. Morrish, MD, MMM, has launched a comprehensive series of meet-and-greets with team members throughout the health system. This initiative took place over the first two weeks of April, following his assumption of leadership on Mar. 15.

Dr. Morrish and his leadership team visited every facility within EHS, culminating each tour with a meet-and-greet session. These meetings allowed him to engage directly with the staff, addressing their questions and listening to their valuable insights on patient care and community service.

“I’m deeply humbled by the warm welcome, engaging conversations and the deep level of commitment of all my colleagues at EHS. Together, we will continue to advance the quality, safety and experience of all our patients and community,” Dr. Morrish remarked during one of the sessions.

The CEO also shared his vision and guiding principles for the organization, which include Access, Quality of Care, Patient Safety, Patient Experience, Team Member Engagement, Diversity Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB), Volume and Revenue. Emphasizing his approach to leadership, Dr. Morrish reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the needs of both team members and patients in every decision.

During the meet-and-greets, notable discussions included insights from the Senior Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Dr. Jean Simon, along with contributions from Occupational Therapist Sonia Forbes-Agnant and Administrative Assistant Chaniqua Gomez, who spoke about patient care and services.

The visits also highlighted the critical roles of various team members, including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Steven Guido, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Karen Paige and Vice President of Finance Jay Weinman, among others, who are integral to EHS’s ongoing operations and strategic direction.

Episcopal Health Services Inc., located on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, continues to serve the Rockaways and Five Towns populations with a broad range of emergency, ambulatory, preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative services. The system is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare accessible to all, especially the culturally diverse and economically or medically underserved communities, irrespective of their ability to pay.
