Mike Medea felt the nerves. Even while standing in left field in the top of the 10th inning of a 5-5 tie against Francis Lewis Monday afternoon, the Cardozo High School senior knew of the pressure he could face in the bottom of the inning.
He thought out the scenario. Sam Juarez gets on first and works his way to second base. As the third batter, Medea knew he could have the chance to be the hero, the one who knocks in the game-winning hit.
And almost prophetically, the scenario came to fruition. Juarez walked and stole second base. After Andrew Greene grounded back to reliever Eli Gotay, Medea, a first-year varsity starter, laced Gotay
