A family and a community has been devastated by the death of an 11-year-boy who died last Thursday when he was struck by a car while riding his bike onto the southbound Clearview Expressway service road in Bayside.
Christopher Adams Scott of 56-30 204th St. in Bayside was hit by a 1977 Oldsmobile at about 5 p.m. Aug. 17, said Detective Walter Burns, a police spokesman. Christopher was taken to New York Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Burns said no arrests were made and no summonses were issued in the accident. Police did not identify the driver of the car, which hit the child as he rode down the ramp onto the service road.
There is a caution sign on the ramp warning pedestrians, bikers or skaters to be careful of oncoming traffic, but there is no stop sign or traffic signals on the service road.
