Jamaica Hospital Medical Center confirmed on Tuesday that it is close to finalizing plans to operate the Advanced Center for Psychotherapy in Wexford Terrace, Jamaica and Forest Hills.
A spokesperson for the Center, opened in the 1950s, said continuing financial problems forced the Center to turn to Jamaica Hospital to bail them out.
The Advanced Center receives 30,000 visits a year and is staffed by 80 psychotherapists. It will now be supervised by Jamaica Hospitals Department of Psychiatry.
The Center joins a growing list of medical entities operated by Jamaica Hospital including Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn and Flushing Hospital.
