The Yankees came out swinging to start their season, led by the big bats of Anthony Bradica and James Ortega, who each had three hits and one RBI. Other clutch RBI hits were turned in by Corey Still, Zachary Rosenblum and Max Arm.
Sparkling defensive plays were turned in by Anthony Samela and Alex Ligas, who fielded a deflected ball off a teammate’s glove just in time to throw the runner out at first. Also, Teddy Lampropoulas played a great all-around game.
The highlight of the game for St. Anastasia was Vincent Olivier’s logging in his first career base hit, Jackie Munno swung a hot bat with a single and a double and Matthew Kelsall provided clutch hitting.
Defensive highlights were inning-ending double plays turned in by shortstop Andrews Vatier and pitcher Matthew Bedrosian. Also, Danny Pelligrino played a solid first base and Scott Stoner made some big plays as a pitcher.
