ST. ALBANS — A man in his 30s made off with $24,000 in MetroCards after he posed as a police officer to stop a car leaving a check cashing business in St. Albans last Thursday night, police said.
The man, who was not identified, used a flashing emergency light on his car to pull over a vehicle carrying a 34-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman and a 32-year-old woman at Dunkirk and Mexico streets about 10:35 p.m. last Thursday, police said. The three had just left a check cashing business on Linden Boulevard, police said.
The man, posing as a cop, forced the three into his car at gun point and drove them to the check cashing business, where he forced the women to go inside and bring him money, police said.
The man fled with $24,000 in MetroCards with the man, who he later released unharmed in Brooklyn, police said.
No arrests were made and the investigation was continuing.
