This is the highest level of competition in the USAIGC league. On the first day, Modi had a nearly perfect competition, finishing second in the all-around and qualifying to finals on all four events. The next day, in event finals, Modi finished second on vault, third on balance beam and fourth on bars and floor.
Just two weeks earlier, the Flushing YMCA sent a team of eight gymnasts to the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships in Hatboro, Pa; Angela Krsikapa, Janet Delgado, Victoria Cannon, Jessica Ruocco, Oriana So, Charlene Fosteris, and Cassie Yue. Competing in the championship level (highest level of YMCA competition), this team finished ninth in the country.
Now all of these athletes and several other members of the Flushing Y Gymnastics Team (Kelly Caltigerone, Giulia Borriello, Alex Giuliani, Gus Michailidis, Kerry Roughan, Miguel Rosario, Hassan Spencer, Jose Batista, and Duane Le) are headed off to the Empire State Games, which will take place July 30- August 1 in Binghamton, N.Y.
