BramsonOrt Job Fair Gives Students A Chance

Students and alumni of BramsonOrt College gathered on June 9, to participate in the school’s annual job fair.
“This has run already for many years and has been a success,” said Dr. Ephraim Buhks, Director of Ort Operations. “It brings employers from the neighborhood together with BramsonOrt College. It enables us to do our job by preparing students for employment.”
This year’s job fair brought together 20 area companies and 40 graduates. The day began with employers sharing their thoughts on current trends in the job market.
Regardless of if the graduates walk away with jobs or not, Buhks feels that it is an important experience for them to have.
“Students are very interested because it’s an opportunity for them to talk to real world people,” Buhks said. “Just the possibility to talk to the employer and find out more about various businesses and their requirements is an enormous service to the school. I think it’s part of the learning experience.”
Buhks said that another reason why job fairs such as these are important is because BramsonOrt College is made up of many students who have never had a job in America before.
“Many of our students are immigrants,” he said. “For them, it’s their first job in America.”
As students and employers met throughout the morning, Buhks heard only good things.
“So far I’ve heard only positive response and comments,” said Buhks.
BramsonOrt is located in Forest Hills at 69-30 Austin Street. For more information on the college, call (718) 259-5300 or visit www.bramsonort.edu.
