Bayside Church Pitches In

The Colonial Church of Bayside has launched a Katrina relief campaign to aide Hurricane victims in the Gulf Coast region.
The church, located at 54-02 217th Street, is participating in the “Rooms in a Box” drive, a national effort begun by the Reformed Church of Plano, Texas. They are collecting boxes that contain some necessities for people who have lost everything.
The boxes can be made for either a 1-, 2- or 4-person family and will include donations of household articles needed to fill one room in a house. Requests include toiletries, linens, and kitchen utensils.
Participants are encouraged to add personal messages and additional items to the boxes to help these evacuees feel more at home.
Messages of hope written by local children and Bibles will be included in each box. The boxes will be collected by the church and distributed to people who have relocated to the Dallas area.
