Transit Drivers Salary

To the Editor:
The riding public has the right to see the salary schedule of the drivers for the transit system, current and proposed - just as they do for teachers, both the beginning salary and the top salary. This should be in dollars, not percent, which means nothing to the general public.

(Editor’s Note: MTA workers currently earn between $47,000 and $55,000 annually. The contract they are considering will provide for wage hikes of 3 percent in the first year, 4 percent in the second and 3.5 percent in the third.)
