Flushing drug den routed

On June 15, members of the 109th Precinct executed a search warrant at a suspected drug den operating out of an apartment in downtown Flushing building that resulted in the arrests of four individuals, including a father and his two sons, and the seizure of money, marijuana, and cocaine along with assorted drug paraphernalia.
The officers executed the warrant with the assistance of the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit (ESU) at 41-81 Frame Place, apartment 5D, in Flushing.
The warrant was the result of intelligence received by the 109th Precinct that involved a high traffic point of sale location in the apartment in the building.
The apartment was guarded by three dogs, a Rottweiler, a Pit Bull, and a Doberman, all of which were taken to Animal Control. Officers from the ESU neutralized the dogs by means of tranquilizer darts. There was further information that there may have been guns in the apartment; in fact, one of the persons arrested had a prior history that involved gun-related offenses.
“When such intelligence is received, we take no chances in terms of officer or civilian safety,” Sergeant Philip Roy, the 109th Burglary Unit supervisor said. Lieutenant John Schneider, the 109th Precinct Special Operations Lieutenant added, “We estimate that the apartment sold approximately $1,000 worth of narcotics a day.”
After entering the drug den, police seized $880 in cash, 1.2 ounces of marijuana and 4 grams of cocaine. The officers arrested Luis E. Chiriboga, 52; Luis Chiriboga, 18 (he had five prior narcotics-related arrests); Paul Chiriboga, 23, (with one prior narcotics-related arrest); and Abigail Francis, 23 (who had a previous robbery arrest and had violated her probation).
Each has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Deputy Inspector Thomas G. Cea, Commanding Officer of the 109th Precinct supervised the execution of the warrant and the arrests. “I am proud of the thorough investigation and the impeccable entry into the apartment by ESU,” he said.
