At approximately 3 a.m. Feb. 1, police said two officers on patrol spotted two white males allegedly spray-painting the outline of a graffiti mural on the roof of C&B Book Distribution, 75-27 Parsons Blvd. in Hillcrest, according to officers at the 107th Precinct.According to the 107th Precinct, the two suspects jumped onto the top of a delivery truck and attempted to get away, but were caught by Officers Thadeusz Jermenko and Slawomir Dziubek. The two suspects, , both 17 and both Flushing residents, were allegedly carrying several cans of spray paint and were knowledgeable of graffiti terms, police said.According to the 107th Precinct, graffiti arrests are on the rise this year. In 2006, police made 45 graffiti-related arrests, but have already made seven such arrests in January 2007 alone, police said. The oldest alleged graffiti vandal arrested in the precinct was 19, and the youngest 12, the 107th Precinct said.In the year to date, 311 has received 35 calls about graffiti within the precinct, and there have been 22 calls to 911 in this period, for a total of 57 complaints, police said. These calls represent a 57 percent increase over the same period in 2005, police said, which reflects a greater willingness on people's part to call, and leads to more arrests.
