Sikhs donate books

Leaders of the Sikh community gathered at the Briarwood Community Library, 85-12 Main Street, on January 26 to present a collection of more than 30 books on the history and heritage of the Sikhs, including a set of ten volumes of children’s bedtime stories in English, Hindi and Panjabi, two DVDs and dozens of pamphlets in two series entitled Sikhis and Who are the Sikhs, to add to Queens Library’s collection. The donation was made to raise public awareness of Sikh identity, and to prevent hate crimes against Sikhs post-9/11/01.
