Pre-Passover food drive

A “Pre-Passover Food Drive” organized by the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council (NQJCC) kicked off on Sunday, March 11, with items being collected through March 28.
“We encourage donations of unopened, non-perishable foods such as baby food, beans, pasta, rice and canned food at collection points throughout northeast Queens,” said NJQCC executive director Gail Eisenberg.
Items can be dropped off at:

  • Samuel Field Y located at 58-20 Little Neck Parkway.
  • Parker Jewish Institute, located at 271-11 76th Avenue in New Hyde Park.
  • Office of Congressmember Gary Ackerman, located at 218-14 Northern Boulevard in Bayside.
  • Hollis Hills Jewish Center, located at 210-10 Union Turnpike in Flushing.
    Several local elected officials and other community organizations are assisting with the effort, including Senators Frank Padavan and Toby Stavisky, Congressmember Gary Ackerman, Assemblymembers Ann-Margaret Carrozza, Barbara Clark, Rory Lancman and Mark Weprin, Councilmembers David Weprin and James Gennaro, the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation and The Samuel Field/Bay Terrace Y.
    “We want to fight hidden hunger in our community,” said Corey Bearak, chair of NEQJCC’s executive committee.
