HS Student Arrested For Prom Threat
A high school senior was arrested for allegedly writing a letter threatening a shooting at his prom.
According to police, Michael DiGiovanni, 17, a student at Middle College High School in Long Island City, wrote in a letter that his classmates attending the senior prom would suffer the same fate of the 32 victims killed at Virginia Tech on April 16.
DA Richard A. Brown said that a teacher found several copies of the letter which read, “So you think Virginia Tech was bad? Just wait for the MCHS Prom! Unlike VTech there won’t be any injured, I’ll get the job done.”
DiGiovanni was arraigned on charges of first- and third-degree falsely reporting an incident and second-degree aggravated harassment. He faces seven years in prison if convicted.
