QCC holds second homecoming

Queensborough Community College (QCC) welcomed back 75 of its alumni, along with family members, to its Bayside campus during its 2nd annual homecoming celebration on Sunday, October 21.
“The reason for any homecoming is to reconnect those people who benefited from being here,” said Dr. Eduardo Marti, the President of Queensborough Community College.
Along with helping former students to reconnect with one another, Marti said that homecoming also gives the school a chance to show off what they are doing, inform people about future plans and ask for their help.
Hasan, a resident of Jamaica, is originally from Pakistan and said she was brought to the United States for a better education. Saying that she is “a believer in education,” Hasan has also taken adult education classes at Queensborough Community College.
Throughout the day, there were many different activities to attend in honor of homecoming. The current QCC Tigers basketball team played a special game against alumni players. There were also other demonstrations and workshops and clowns doing face painting. Attendees also were able to view the QCC Art Gallery’s current exhibition of African art, “A Cameroon World: Art and Artifacts from the Marshall and Caroline Mount Collection.”
