Young honored by NAACP

Assemblymember Ellen Young (third from left) received an award from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) for her “commitment and dedication to children in the Flushing community” during the Northeast Queens chapter’s Education/Membership Breakfast on Monday, September 24.
The 2007-08 state budget made a historic investment in New York schools: $700 million in New York City funding and provisions for “Contracts for Excellence,” which work to ensure class size reduction.
With Young are (from right) Northeast Queens NAACP President Ken Cohen; member Martha Taylor; NAACP Vice President, Bernard Sydnor (seated) and members Al Rankin, John Rosario, John Byas and Donald Henton.
